will be investing, one though, is the only way to weld the complete circumference of the join to remove the roof? otherwise your just welding as much as possible and missing abit? am thinking that i will go f/g roof skin anyway so shouldnt be a problem.

How are you going to/have you welded yours in whyte_ben? if you are that is?

sorry for the hijack!

Fella, you have more balls than me to cut that shell about like you have, when I did my herritage shell, I was pooing myself when cuttin holes for side repeaters, and trimming my arches! All due respect to you, looks a treat!

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Howdy peeps,

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah its a geronimo cage. Havnt fitted it in yet, its just sort of, assmebled in the car. Just ordered a seat to make sure everything fits in before I weld anything!

Think the harness mounting bar might be in the way, which is annyoing as I didnt ask for it! Ohwell.

Gonna try put the block to the garbox tomorrow!

Thanks again!

Ben.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

a lot of cages (ie. race ones etc) are assembled short of the roof, then mounted on square mounts to get them up to the roof.

hard to explain but assume its easy enough to do.

i think i get you, so you assemble them in the car but with a sort of "bottom section" missing, so as you can get to the welds around the top, and then you weld in the so called bottom section as its easier to get all the way around the tubing there to post?

or am i just sounding stupid as its 3am and i cannot sleep!!! (again sorry for the hi-jack!!)

great build and merry christmas, James.

On mine I'm planning to drill / cut four holes in the floor and drop the cage down to weld the top bits. TBH there are a lot of other bits that are equally difficult to get to, Sill bars, toe bars, heal bars.

Hi guys, long time no post!

Just thought i'd add a few more pictures of the slight progress ive made.

Bought 2 seats, got them fitted how I want them .... I think.

Cant find any pictures of the mount I made for the seats but i'l take some and post them up shortly.

Got my rollcage powder coated.

But then looking at the car.... something wasnt right, then I realised .... it needed to be tubbed! So I took the axle out and started work on that.

(Obviously isnt adjusted and has loads of room to be lowered)

And now im starting to work on the dashboard, the plan is to end up with something like whats in the extremly crude picture below.

Heres what ive been doing all weekend!

Needed to cut out the centre piece in the bottom rail in order for the dash to look mmmmm good.

Had to fill the whole with something so made these up out of the remains of my door bins!

Got to work on what will be the top rail.

Had to mount it at the right angle so welded these in.
