Could anyone tell me what total advance is needed when running 8 to 1 compression and 10 psi boost what is the relation between them is there a formula for working it out.
Cheers Adam
OK chaps just found something 1.1 degree less total advance for every lb of boost so lets say normal engine has 35 total 10lb boost would take 11 degrees of leaving it at 24 total advance maximum .This is only a guide

Could people let me know what there setting is so i can see if this is relevant

Plenty of people run 25 degrees fixed as a timing figure which is fairly well proven to be safe.

However the only way to really find out is on the rolling road, as its a balance between safety and maximum power.

If you have 8:1 CR then I'd say you have nothing to worry about on 10psi.

Hi,
As Tom said, most people are running 24-25 fixed, but are putting a lot more than 10psi in there!
Cheers,
Gavin :)
