who is still ruinning the heater?
is it a good idear to keep the heater?
if your not running the heater how did you do your water pipes at the moment i have got the pipe from the top left of the head going the the inlet manifold and then goign from the inlet manifold into the bottom radiator hose. at current the car is running hot.
is it worth putting the heater back int the car

ive set mine up exactly the same, and left the thermostat in too, because i didnt know whether the heated inlet works best when the car is hot or cold, and was told it didnt affect it.

i am using the mini them housing
drilled out my head for a standard mini take off

when my heater is in ( i have just finished turning my matrix around insid ethe box )

I will run from head to inlet from inlet to heater from heater to bottom hose

most people say its not worth running through the inlet and as far as I know the inlet is usually heated to improce runability when car is cold
I rekon with running higher boost the water through the inlet may even assist with cooling

some of what i say could be bollox some may be useful

who knows !

just a we note, make sure you get the flow goin the right way thro the heater matrix or youl get a nice big air bubble trapped and not alot of heat :)

feebs I wooudl never run a car without a thermostat
I think there was a misconception that this will make things run cooler

I dont neccesarly agree with that

AN engine running cool wears far quicker than one running at the desired temp, also ; I beleive you can get the opposite effect on what your trying to achiev and end up running hotter withot a thermostat

I think a metro ran a 88 degree , methinks I fitted a 82 !!

i've still got my heater as i find it a use ful tool to keep the engine cool in traffic and those really hot summer days we can have.

Can i just ask then, do you still put the sound deadening piece behind the heater, does it knock without it? Worried about all that heat! im going to trim all the carpet there to be nowhere neer the box.

i didnt put this in. i used cable ties to hold the heater in place. and it made a hell of a difference to the cooling of the engine. well worth doing

im going to run no heater, but i will have the matrix plumbed in as usal but in the engine bay behind the grille so its always got air flow going through it.

the mini will only be used on nice sunny days though, so a actol heater is not needed.

cheers

Hi,
Nobby .. You're putting hot water into the "cold" side of the engine by doing it that way.
Best bet I think would be to use a sandwich plate and return the water to it.
Then when the stat opens all the hot water will flow through the rad *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)
