If it is a standard engine, I don't recommend it, do so at your own risk...........but don't be suprised if something melts or breaks.

how much power do you want?
what CR?

you can run any boost with no IC... but if you have to retard the timing a mile to stop it detting there is no point.

I have the mk1 rad at the front, an oil Catch can made up, and its real tight in There...
The pic was what My car used to look like.
http://www.turbominis.co.uk/_photos/random...os/683/4065.jpg
But now its just had a make over, Which has not been finished yet.
But it will be the same set up.
Anyway. ive done a search and come Across Tim's (known as Metro Turbo) Post. and he had that intercooler on his MG metro turbo car. So i thought, hmm That could work.
So this is what it would look like if i did It his way.
http://www.turbominis.co.uk/_photos/random...os/683/4066.jpg
Not sure where i would mount it.
Would that work efficient enough ?

Steve's doing my cylinder head.
Remove the main bottle necks in the Head, the valve guide bosses, fit new Manganise guides seals and double Race springs, 180 pound pressure ones RPM up to 7500. cut new seats, clean All The valves up, re seat lap in.
Compression lowering in the Combustion chambers to 8.4:1.
Cut Out 28cc in there..

Cheers..
P.s guess ya right, there is room lol

It's not realy about needing the intercooler, It's about the extra 20hp you will get because of it.

Do the job properly and fit the IC.

The IC is so important, I would suggest putting a standard mini radiator in to make room for it.

If you've got a clubby, fit a 2WD Cosworth one. There isn't a single excuse not to.

Lower the radiator ..... it could be dropped a good few inches!!!! Think of the improvement in handling by having the weight of all that water lower ... *wink*

Any air going over the IC will be warm anyway if you don't.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

I've got a steel roundnose with a brake servo and a 2wd cossie cooler!

And the bonnet uses it's original catch and hinges (at it's original height!)

You just need to try harder!

In the 13's at last!.. Just

I had it made as a one off by Pace as I couldn't find anything the right size at the time (early 1992). If I was doing it again now I'd get a Cossie intercooler and save myself a small fortune!

So having one there not good then, due to the heat..
Well, This is the big mount for my rad to sit on. http://www.turbominis.co.uk/_photos/random...os/683/4069.jpg

And this is with the rad in.
http://www.turbominis.co.uk/_photos/random...os/683/4070.jpg

I dont want to lower the rad, as the setup is ok. it be to much Farting Around Lowering the rad, it just wont work out etc..
But at the bottom there is room for a Intercooler *tongue*
The room i have is (L-540 X W-130 X D-80 )
Is there one around with this kind of size ? but i dont want the Part Where u connect the pipes to be at the sides. more like the Back Of the intercooler, as that give me more room..:)

Gavin,

Sure am, it's one of those SF45 Jenvey throttle bodies with 2 injectors, so a wet manifold setup. Running about 11 psi at the moment but I'll be lifting it to more like 15 now I'm happy it's all working ok.
Regards

Neil

Someone like Pace Products will build you a one off to any dimensions (they built mine) but you'll need a large wallet or an understanding bank manager!

allard motorsport may also be able to sort you something, little bit less than pace but you will still want a fairly big wallet
