Im after some 304 stainless sheet 6mm thick to make some exhaust flanges.

Does anyone have some spare that they'd be willing to sell or know of a good company to supply small quantities?

Cheers
Matt

There are a number of ebay shops that sell offcuts at reasonable prices.

I think 6mm is a bit thin, particularly if you are fitting a turbo. It will also distort when welded.

I used 50mm x 10mm bar to make mine.

Yeah I wasn't too sure, if you recommend 10mm i'll go for that.

Have you made yours as a single plate or individual plates?

By the way im on about the flanges to bolt the exhaust to the head.

These are mine:

Are yours for a five port or your K1100? Not that it makes much difference.

K1100 exhaust, Ive made an individual template, but after visiting the pipe bend supplier all their exhaust manifolds were made as a single piece?

Any benefit in this?

I got mine off ebay too,

think I got 12mm though as thats all there was at the time.

cuts up not too bad with a hacksaw as long as the blades good.

I think if they are individual rather than a single it allows expansion & movement better.
Just easiler being single piece for production runs.

I wouldnt use anything less than 12mm....that will allow some room for machining if it does warp.

If cutting, just cut it with a proper stainless steel cutting disc in a 4.5" grinder ( stainless discs are very thin, and work superbly for cutting any materials )

Obviously the disc isnt stainless...its just intended for cutting stainless BTW.

Ive just bought some 10mm from a company on ebay called "stainless steel sections".

It shouldn't make much odds if it warps as the sealing faces aren't the flanges its the actual end of the pipe the seal to the head. This is where the fun begins..lol
