Hello i know this is well off topic but i know naff all about diesel cars and its driving me crazy so any help would be great. About 6 weeks ago i snapped my fan belt and cam belt in one go! Anyway i had the engine replaced and now i still have problems, when starting in the morning especially i can put put the accelerator to the floor and then there is a delay while the engine catches up. Also when driving it accelerates by itself and loses power too (imagine stamping on and off the throttle) however it appears to be completely random when it decides to do this as i can go days with it driving ok. Any ideas?

My brother drives a laguna (no diesel though) with the same belt problem. His replacement engine also starts badly.

I'll ask him what they did to fix it

Hi,
Sound like an air leak in the fuel system to me.
Get the monkeys who fitted the engine to check their "handy work"
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I bled the filter a couple of times and it ran better for a while but then it just went back to the way it was :(

Hi,
Sounds like it's pulling in air in as your bleeding fixes it temporarily...
I'd imagine the leak to be between the tank the the filter.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Check your bottom crank pulley to the cam. Sounds like the woodruff key couldve worn a great big groove. Had this happen to a torano.
