Hi,
Just e mailed this nice message to those wonderful people at the DVLA.....

Dear Sir / Madam,
I’m contacting you to express my disgust at the level of service we as motorists are paying the DVLA for. Allow me to elaborate …

Last year I purchased a second hand car at the end of February, the vehicle’s tax expired on the day I purchased it. I needed to carry out some work to get the vehicle road worthy again so therefore I filled in a SORN declaration and took it to the post office.
Two weeks later DLVA returned the form stating I could not declare SORN as the vehicle was not registered in my name.
Three weeks later the V5C turned up in the post, with my name and address on it. Another three weeks later a fine turned up telling me I had not re licensed the vehicle!
I then had to telephone DVLA at my expense to be told I needed to photocopy all documents and post them to Swansea, again at my expense.
The date on the V5C proved that the document was in DVLA possession when the SORN application was rejected….
In September 2006 I purchased a new motorcycle from the local Yamaha dealership, I traded in my old motorcycle and asked them to arrange transfer of my personalised registration to my new motorcycle, which they promptly did via the local DVLA office.
I renewed my insurance policy this week and noticed that I had no V5C for my new motorcycle but had a certificate allowing me to purchase number plates and a receipt for the vehicle excise duty also. Today I noticed that the vehicle tax had expired at the end of August.
Shown on the invoice for my new motorcycle is £80 transfer fee and £38 DVLA new vehicle administration fee. On contacting the DVLA by telephone, again at my expense, I was informed that the vehicle was not in my name but had been traded in to the dealer where I had purchased it from new.
The operative I spoke to told me that the only way I could get a new V5C was to pay £25 for a replacement. I informed him that there was absolutely no way this was going to occur as I had already paid the DVLA £38 for the one I never received.
I then contacted the dealer again who said he would contact DVLA and try to rectify the problem. He then spent over twenty minutes on the telephone to DVLA only to inform me they were unable to resolve the problem and had taken my contact details and would be contacting me shortly. As the dealer’s representative explained to me it would be impossible to register it as traded in without a log book…. Three days later I’ve heard, nothing.
I will also notify you at this point I will NOT be paying any fines relating to this vehicle as I’m currently unable to tax if due to having no documents
From the lengthy problems I have so far experienced with the “organisation” called the DVLA and the fact that I have paid the new vehicle administration fee in one case and several phone calls to a premium rate phone numbers, I don’t believe I have received either good service or value for money.
For this reason I demand a full investigation into these occurrences and a detailed report to be forwarded to me. I also feel that compensation is in order to cover my time and expenses accrued in correcting DLVA failures.

Yours truly,

Gavin Wilkinson

I'm not the least bit p***ed off about this..... *angry**angry**angry*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Hi,
BOC is my take on Tom's now world famous phrase, I think it's in Wikipedia?
It stands for Bunch Of C...s, more appropriate in this instance *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

Yoou can probably get away with it

Back in the olden days when the sorn first came out you had to fill out the address that the car was at then tick the box on the right hand side

I got a fine through as i hadnt ticked the box. Fortunately my mum made me photocopy the form and i could show them the mistake.
Im sure when you show them the dates and explain the story, they may be reasonable

Hi
I'm getting away with it fine, DVLA think the bike has been sat in a showroom for the last year
Meanwhile I've done 3500miles on it!
Cheers,
