Does anyone know if a K head will clear the std round front steel bonnet if I used std engine mounts? Done a bit of searching but found nothing concrete.

Regards
Neil

yes if you use the std throttle bodies and some of those foam trumpet socks like on John K's gold mini,

the cam cover may touch one of the bonnet strenghtening ribs, so you'll need to chomp a bit out of it.

Neil - mini13 is correct - if you nibble the X brace under the bonnet where the front of the cam cover sits a steel bonnet will clear on std engine mounts.

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

Cheers Guys!
John, do you know how much of the X brace I would have to cut out, I guess you had to do the same on the gold one?

Hi - due to the build tolerances in slapping panels on the front of cars - each one is different - the gold one was easy - its a fibre bonnet

im having real trouble getting mine to fit! i think it something to do with my injection subframe and carbon front.

ive just got it in now, but the bonnets up about 21/4 inch at the back, not a bad thing.

Injection subframe mounts the engine 12mm further forward

You need to redrill the holes, easy enough to do as you can see howmuch they moved them from the underside.

you will need a shorter engine steady and gear linkage, unless you redrill the mounts on the latter as i did

Oh and the fibreglass fronts are a bitch to fit, they are a different shape, so can compounding things even further as i found out

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
