Me and bud666 spent the last 2 days building my new 1380 and fitting it.. but we cant get any oil pressure.

we tried the usual trick of feeding oil down through the pressure relief valve hole and turning the engine backwards but got nowt.

Ive just finished removing the transfer case thinking maybe the key on the oil pump had fell out during the build somehow, but it was still there and the oil pump gasket was fine too. Ive fed oil down through the relief valve, banjo and pressure switch holes and it all dribbles out where it should.

Any ideas before I rip the whole engine out to check that the o-ring is in place?

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

anton remove the pipe from the engine where it comes out and goes to the top of the oil filter get some STP put the engine in 2nd gear and push it back a couple of meters feeding oil in the engine where the pipe coupled when pushing the car back
refit the pipe you should have oil pressure if not............. its as as you say *frown*

Have you put oil in the engine? LOL

Only last option is to check top o ring. It couldve came out of the recces and sitting funny.

just managed to get 40psi on the starter after shitoads of back filling and removing the oil cooler etc, took about 2mins of spinning on the starter to get it up. just come back in for a brew and to put some charge back in the battery then back out to make it run.

if it runs then it's beer o'clock seeing as its antons birthday today.

bud not anton. :)

Not heard of this before. What do you grease on the pump?

the internal lobey bits,

basicaly, just stick somthing thick in to take up the clearances that won't run out so when you come to get the oil pressure up months after the engine is built the pump isnt dry and will suck the oil up to the pump (nearly a foot?)

Personally I think a bit of sealant on the rear removable cover is a good idea too.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

to be honest i've never had a problem getting oil pressure. its weird, some people get these problems all the time, others have never had it.

i never back fill, and usually 30 seconds max on the starter gets me oil pressure.

Hi,
Mike .. I would say poor it into the block through where the oil filter goes.
Never tried it, but can't see why not....
