Hi, I have just done 50 miles on my new engine with mineral oil, I've just done an oil change, but this time I've used a semi-synthetic, is this a very bad idea? should I still be using mineral? Is it even worth draining and using mineral?

Thanks in advance,

Kav

Hi,
50 miles is no where near long enough to run the engine in. I'd go to 1000 miles before putting any thing synthetic in.
The engine needs to wear to get the rings bedded in. Just my opinion...
Cheers,
Gavin :)

ELB's in Suffolk who did my crank also said the same thing. A very fine hone. Build the engine with the oil you intend to use is the only different thing I've heard.
Once you've oil pressure, Keep the revs up & don't let it idle. :)
