Hi,
I got my car on the rollers for the first time yesterday, and seen as i've had so much help from this site I thought I'd post the result to give others still researching an idea what to expect, it made 115bhp @6.5psi thats on a pretty standard engine with a side mounted rs intercooler 731 cam and a cross pin diff, I was pretty chuffed with it, apart from my ful pressure regulator being seized solid, and tips on freeing this up btw, or is it a dead duck?

Cheers,

Kav

Hi James, It feels great, I hadnt driven a turbo before so I didnt know what to expect, off boost its very civilised and driveable, but as soon at it comes on boost the acceleration really is impressive, I think the camshaft was worthwhile... Hope your project comes together, its enough to put a smile on most ppl's faces.

Cheers, Kav

good cam choice as its nearly the same as the mg cam, which we know works well.

well done.

sounds like the diaphram has a hole in it but easy to replace go to burlen they will have one.

Hi,
I'd throw a new one on it.
If you repair it and it goes lean later on you'll destroy your engine, not worth it for £35!

Gavin :)

Hi, thanks for the replies guys, think ill get a new one then, thought it might have just been seized but if the internals might be damaged think ill opt for a brand spanker, I was happy with the power made, but was really tempted to up the boost, but I'd rather have a happy gearbox than a bit more power atm.

Cheers, Kav

Resident Cylinder Head Modifier

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

a good result, but..........

if you take the boost up over 9 psi you will suffer from detonation quickley killing the head gasket

you need to run an intercooler an drop the compression on the head

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

theres not much inside the reg to be honest, just the diaphram, 2 washer like things, and a spring

Yoour diaphram has probably streched and thats all, weigh up the cost of replacing this, or getting a new one

Nice result though, as benross says drop the compression, and duct, or move the intercooler to go to the next level

Yer the intercooler position isnt ideal, but it does the job for thw kinda boost im running and i wanted the stealth look really, I just bought this loctite freeze spray stuff that was reduced in halfords, might see if that free's it up or will the diaphragm deffo need replacing?

Cheers, Kav
