Hi There, I've bought myself a lathe, no the problem is getting it home. The weight of it is approx 650kgs, any tips on how to get it on and off the trailer. Do you think 6 people could lift it? On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:

Me and my mate lifted his lathe off a trailer with 2 engine cranes, then dropped it onto poles, and then rolled it along, like the egyptians!

The last time I saw one of these moved, the guy enlisted the help of the local mini-skip guy. He was able to lift the unit off the floor from inside the door and then lift it onto the back of the truck once he was outside. As for getting it off at the other end, he repeated the process but dropped it onto poles so it could be slid into its final position. £50 in his back pocket and he was happy. |

Rite if it weighes 650 kg how much does your mini weigh (no more i would of thaught) try and pick that up. ye the rear no probs but fronts a different ball game . Anyway think the pallet truck idea is best with engine crane to get on an off trailer, either way whatever you do its going to be fun . He He He

Strip down the lathe, remove the bed from the base and do it with an engine crane, takes a while but you will still have your back intact!! which is better? more time moving it in sections, or a couple of weeks off work because you have pulled your back?
