Recently at the Goodwood Trackday my engine aquired a really bad oil leak, a quick inspection, appeared to show the flywheel oil seal had let go ! so brought the car home and parked it in the garage. Left it for about 10 days before I thought I would sort out what was supposed to be an easy repair *frown* Well on a proper inspection there was a 1.5" hole in the side of the gearbox case (just behind the oil filter) with a stepped collar wedged in the hole.
So engine out, the idler bearing assembly bolt had broken allowing the bolt and collar to fall onto the windage plate, and allow the crank to give it a little nudge through the gearbox case *surprised* Strangely enough the engine / gearbox didn't show any signs of damage while giving it beans around the track, so pretty lucky in some ways. Luckily the engine is all O.K, I just need to get the gearbox case welded up at work and sort the idler gear.
Does anyone know if you can buy the bolt collar assembly seperately from Mini Spares ?

Hi,
I've read somewhere about changing the nut on this setup, as the nyloc originally fitted comes loose!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi,
Bugger! At least there was enough left for you to see what the problem was!
If the bolt has broken I'd be on to MS about a warranty claim!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Who said windage trays were not worth their money? I recon it save the box at least :)

Incidently, which windage tray are you using?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Warranty ! nice idea but I'm sure it's got to be at least 6yr's old.
