All right guys,

Well its been a while since I've been on having moved to the states etc, but before I left I managed to get the min on the local rolling road.

Its a standard bottom end so only running 10PSI,

Boost:

The cam is a MG NA but due to the move I didn't get to time it in properly, but still its not a bad set of numbers.

Mixture is a little rich on tick over but is ok on boost. Standard needle with hi boost spring.

I think once I sort the bottom end, sc drops + diff, with the boost up to 14-16 psi, it will really push out some big bannas.

Static CR is 8.4 ish. with Benross big valve head.

To be honest I don't think it needs much more power or torque, it feels really nice as it is !*smiley*

For some reason the torque jumped later on the first run although the boost level is fairly similar, perhaps the dizzy was sticking ? or the dsh pot piston ?

Comments welcome

I though that was how turbos drove ? lol

Power is at FW, iirc I think it was 95 at wheels

I must admit it does pull you around a fair bit in second, if you not careful you can end up on the wrong side of the road !

Agree with Robert, theres something odd going on as normally you expect the torque "bump" to coincide with the boost "bump".

Maybe cam timing would be worth checking first?

Rob and Tom,

Wheels spin may be?, the torque bump seems to be in a differnet place for both runs also...?

On the road it pulls when the boost comes on, i.e between 2.5 and 3k and the clutch is good.

Maybe there something up with the rollers ?

I did think at the time the bump was a bit late up the rev range?

Fort, sadly no but I have brought some goodies with me, car is wax oiled up, on axel stands in the back of a garage, may ship it if we decide to stay....

Cheers

Right guys,

I Have figured out what is going on with the curves,

If you look the curve under 4000 its linear and after the jump its what you would expect to see

The jump is when he actually starts to record the power and torque, in the first run he starts it a 4500 and in the second at 4000rpm, so the jump is simply the start of the reading and is independant of the boost. (so you don't actually see the boost jump).

I think its because the DASTECH rollers are electric or something and it was only a power run so he wasn't interested in the lower rpms, so didn't record it.

This makes alot more sense to me anyway ?

Rob, Tom ?

ah isee, yes you can do this just motor up to 4k then floor it and you will get a curve like that ,not much use for checking the fuelling at the lower rpm on full power though!

To be honest I'd have to speak to the guy, but I think it was floored all the way its just the roller wasn't fully loaded until he flicked a switch or something at 4000rpm, where you notice a little hic up as it comes in.

I think this must save him money on the electric bill when doing power runs...

I will check about the mixture curve but this looks like its covers the full rev range from low down, and it does change at the transition point as you would expect as does the boost curve.

But as you say I think I will ask to see the full picture next time...*smiley*

Still not bad power for 10psi, and theres still plenty of scope for upping the boost once the timming and gearbox is sorted

This could explain it I guess. if you go back get him to run it up properly all the way up the rev range.
