I think my block may have liners hard to tell from the deck.
but from below you can seen what looks like a liner coming out from the block. If the block has lines would i be able to turbo it to say 7-8 psi . I know its not ideal.

I'm stupid Ive A fiesta with most of the bits to make my megajolt thingy. Thick or what!!!! OHHHHH and ive got a metro for free !!!!! Metros have become rare over here!!!!!!!!!

No problem. Especially for factory installed liners.

I wouldn't hesitate to use the block personally.

My first 1275 turbo had liners.....I was quite shocked to see this !!

never gave me any problems though.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

One of the blocks I have (and am considering using) also appears to have liners, presumably factory fitted due to (from what I have read), porous blocks after casting, but do the factory lined blocks have any limitations other than overbore size if we use them ???
At lower (re-)bore sizes, could they actually be better than a plain casting from having a uniform wall thicknes in the bores from being lined ???

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

The only problem I've found with factory fitted liners is the way that BMC used to hone the blocks the liners tend to be bored slightly offset making rebores a bit trickier.

Cheers all for that info. Still dont know to go for a turbo or supercharger. Don,t fancy paying the money to supercharger it then again the money that people are paying for turbo,s and manifold is silly.
And then theres the plenum which is another story .
If theres any one over here in N Ireland that has a turbo mini i would be interested in having a look if they didnt mind. *happy* Cheers Stephen

They're a fair bit about Turbo's vs Superchargers if you search around.

Both installs can be cheap, both can cost a fortune.

Just remember to have the block skimmed. It seems as sometimes, the cast iron between the liners on the deck gets "eaten" away for some reason.

My MG MEtro engine had this problem between 2 and 3, and that had liners.

Effectively Supers give good low end power but fall off at higher revs, turbo is the opposite due to the delay before it kicks in.
So do both *wink*

There is no sense crying over every mistake- you just keep on trying til you run out of cake.
