Hi lads.
Im back to school now :), working on my mini again that is *tongue*

Anyhow.
Im just doing my clutch, which is a verto clutch *surprised*
Ive placed the keyplate (also know as FLYWHEEL KEYWAY) to the flywheel.

This is the key.

The problem im having, is the proundest part of the key dont go in far enough.
As shown here

It seem's that the proudest part of the key needs to be higher.
But the one on minispares dont look that much higher.
http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=32942

Have i done something wrong etc ?

Plus doe's everything else look ok on the clutch/ flywheel etc.
Any help would be great :)
Cheers :)

Hi,
Did you assemble the clutch and flywheel then try fitting it to the crank?
Have you tried turning the flywheel round 180 degrees?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi,
well yours looks a little battered, but I'd keep going with it for now, use the new one when its sorted.
Have you got the clutch plate in back to front?
I don't know what you've done wrong TBH, but it does look like the flywheel is sticking out a long way in that picture...
Edit: Nice ass BTW *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Hi,
Is the clutch plate in the right way round?
Post up a picture of the crank without the clutch on, lets start there.....
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I cant take all them bolts out now, as im on me own, so know one to hold the flywheel while ill put pressure to take bolts out.
Anyway.
As i remember, it said on the clutch plate, flywheel side. so doe's that mean the clutch plate should face towards the engine, or away from the engine.
as the clutch plate more or less sits in the middle of the flywheel.. if u get me?
Cheers..

hmmmm,

with the keyplate out does the flywheel appear to go al the way onto the taper?
If not the clutch pate could be slightly misaligned. I always do the bolts that hold the pressure plate on up to the point where you can still move the clutch plate about just (a tad more than fingertight) then i slip it on the engine to line it up and do the bolts up, then fit the center bolt and fully tighten them all.
with the verto your in a better position to do this on your own as there is more stuff to stick a screwdriver in to lock the engine.

Also with the flywheel off does the lock plate slip into the flycheel all the way and seat in the grooves? (try all 3 ways!)

also is the flywheel on the right way up? (not 180 deg out) the keyway is slightly offset so the flywheel only goes on 1 way, although i have seen many engines where it has been whacked on the wrong way and the key plate forced on with hammer/ big bolt.

What was causing it to stick out too far?
Cheers,
Gavin :)
