Hi,
I tried to start my 1293 compressor engine today, but it won't....
Here's te story:
I've driven 1000 miles with a standard hiff44 carb and no compressor. No problems at all.
Now i've installed a turbo hiff44 with a metro turbo fuel pump and regulator and it won't run. I disconnected the boost, so it should just start. It's a blow through setup.
- I cleaned the carb and changed it to another turbo one, same story
- I checked all connections/hoses with a running mg metro turbo, no difference
- Ignition nothing changed, I still get sparks, timing I checked last week with running engine, OK.
I hope someone knowes the answer!!
Regards,
Remko

turbo dave wrote a excellent peice on carbs.............. do a search

if all ok the problem could be a stuck float valve

When you say compressor, do you mean turbocharger or supercharger?

Hi,
Have you got the anti run on pipe blocked?
What have you set the fuel pressure to?
Take a look about half way down this post for what pipe goes where

Cheers,
Gavin :)

- I mean an eaton supercharger, blow through an intercooler and a mg metro turbo hiff.
- I'm 100% sure i did the pipes right, I also blocked the antin run on pipe. I did put a running mg metro turbo next to it to check all those things.
- I didn't set the pressure, I tried 2 regulators that both are directly from a running mg metro turbo, so they should be right. At least one of them I would say.
Cheers,
Remko

Have you got a part-throttle bypass on the supercharger?

If not then the carb will be seeing very high pressure at idle and no fuel will exit the jet.

Problem solved!!!
The gasket between the carb and the plenum was 1 hole short... I knew it should be something simple, but that simple......
Thanks for your replies!!
