Been eyeing up a walnut dashs on ebay, and really want a genuine rover mpi one

will they plug straight into a 1992 British open classic's wiring loom? or will I need to fiddle about?

Cheers

Joe

Hi,
The rev counter will read wrong at least, unless you're running MJ.
Don't know about the temp gauge either as it's fed from the ECU on the Mpi, is a BOC Spi?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

ah, and no, its a carb bat

I have an old triple cluster out of a mayfair, would those fit the mpi dash or are the mpi speedo housings different too?

At the very least you will need to wire in the rev counter, however the wires should be in place for that (at least they were on mine) the Speedo will read out as the MPIs had a 2.7 diff, but it wouldn't be a Mini if the speedo was remotely correct and I'm not sure about the temperature gauge as the temperature gauge on the MPIs gets it's feed from the ECU.

Hi,
Now you're asking!
I've only broke an Mpi for spares about 12 months ago now.
The dash and clocks are long gone. The 3 clock cluster didn't look anything unusual to me, but I'd not got a set of early ones to compare them to..
Cheers,
Gavin :)

You cant, unless some one can figure out a way for the tacho to only read half the ignition events.

Just swap the tacho mechanism over from an SPi or carb car, everything else will fit, and you will find loads of those in the jumble at Bingly at the end of January

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I bow to Sprocket's knowledge on injenction stuff but I thought there was an adjustable pot on the back of the MPi rev counter that could be tweaked to fudge the revs correct.

Should be able to do it with a 555 no problem.

The seller is also selling a matching dash, might be worth seeing if he'll do you a discount on both.

yes you can alter the rev counter by opening it up. inside there is a small screw that you adjust. this will give you a true reading, i have seen pics on other forums but can't find them. all the rest work ok

Will it really adjust out 4000rpm??

I thought it was just a trim
