Hi,
Kenwood made some years ago. One was wood effect and the other carbon fiber. Guess which one I've got....

i used to have this one, was a wicked piece of kit when it was new and you can get em pretty cheap now. It's a dark brushed ally finish.

snakeii you have decended down the ladder of respect bro ROFLMAO :) only foolin.

a bit of a good point tho you could get a kenwood mask and cover the backside of it in wallnut veneer so when it closes you will have a black border and a wallnut center ? i have a silver sony system with 10 disc changer and a 300 watt 10" sub in a box for grabs if you get stuck. the box is designed for use in a mini *wink*

nah have it seperate bro, you can take it out the car then *wink*.

i have mine on a monitor bracket mounted onto the dash, you could make a plate which sandwiches between the top rail and the top of your dash (your input wire could come from here too) that way when you come to remove it you dont got holes everywhere. the monitor bracket would obviously bolt to the plate. and voila.

opted for a plainish silver sony unit in the end, couldnt find anything more suitable for under a hundred quid, if anything crops up its a simple enough thing to swap anyhow.

the factory walnut dash Ive bought has 3 aux gauge holes, and im not sure on what gauges to go for, thinking just the usual:

volts - clock - oil pressure
in magnolia, or:

volts - clock - oil temp be better (as per sportspack minis)?

i would have thought oil pressure more relevant than temp on a std mini?

What do you guys reckon?

Hi,
I'd go for oil pressure, more important then temp :)

this the one you purchased off me? - if so, i was planning on having it lying horizontal inside the glove box, and on a drawer type slider to slide it out, and some kind of rotating mechanism so that the face of the screen could be pulled up vertically and locked in place.

as for the headunit - i found a few i quite liked, i don't know what sort of look your going for or what you may like..

Got few more q's about this walnut dash, its a factory mpi one, does anyone know:

How the air vents link up to the std ons int he bulkhead? Do they just mate up or do i need a sleeve etc?

Also, anyone know what threads the 2 bottom mountings are, ive got a feeling theyre metric? as a 5/16 unf bolt didnt want to go on more than 1 thread?

How easy will it be to use the headlight switch on the dash instead of the one on the switch panel? is it just a metter of extending the wires to it?

Thanks alot, trying to get as much as poss sorted in my head for when Im ready to do some more work down the garage.

Cheers

Joe

The air vents link with a small length of suitable sized ducting.

Lower mountings pass.

The headlight switch is actually for the headlight levelling motors on the MPI's, not for the actual lights. So as such I don't think it will be suitable for the headlights. The MPI's used a rotary headlight switch on the end of the indicator stalk.
