I'm looking for a new compressor for my self, I quite fancy a Hydrovane compressor, as I've been told these are really quiet, and bang high cfm's, is this the case?

thoughts?

Cheers

Ive an oldish ( well...8-9 yrs wow ! ) Sip workshop 150litre, single cylinder ( piston )

Single phase, 3HP. Its noisy, every time motor starts, lights flicker etc, and I do have a fairly decent supply to my garage. and the compressor.....

These tend to be the cheaper types, although at the time, I bought the best I could afford, without going nuts.

If doing it again....Id go for a twin screw type. these are a lot quieter than piston types.

On the other hand.....aside from blowing stuff and pumping tyres up. I really dont use it that often.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

we had a hydrovane we got rid of and have regreted it ever since. They have high CFM output and are particularly qiet. I'm not sure how regulated the flow is for painting though - would be worth using a receiver with it to regulate as they are generally direct supply.

Hi,
I don't know about the reliability, but they're a lot more complex than your average piston compressor...

Are they easy to service? mine has a small oil leak.

My mates dad has a pair that he uses for his business - he always sends them away for proper servicing - when I say always, he always waits till the last minute when a problem develops and then gets them serviced!
