right, i know its a metro turbo engine destined for my mini, but its still in my metro turbo, just trying to get it running before the engine swap. it will be a mini turbo 1275gt soon.
basically it runs fine for about 20 mins of driving, fast or slow or whatever, then suddenly ill try to speed up and it bogs out, wont rev at all, it only runs if i use the slightest bit of throttle.
sometimes it cuts out all together, i can just get it started and it will pootle to a lay by. within 10 mins it will be fine for a short time and then do it all again.
is this fuel ( i disconnected fuel to carb line and cranked engine and fuel gushes out.) does it have a realy for the fuel pump as i couldnt find it.
or is it ignition?
help would be appreciated
many thanks
jack

Hi
I had this trouble, and it turned out to be the fuel chamber underneath the carb, for some reason it was running out of fuel. I bought an extending part from Avonbar, which allowed my fuel to be in the carb, i also got something else from them for the carb at the same time, but do not remember what it was, but with both of these bits it cured the problem..... i will try and remember what the second part was.

Hi,
That would probably be the needle valve that controls fuel going into the float chamber.
It could be that, but another member on here a while back had replaced/ rebuilt most of the car before asking on here.
We/he tracked it down the the crap in the tank blocking the filter in the tank causing the stravation.
I'm going on the fact that the pump is noisey, as the intake gets restricted the pump gets louder as it works harder to pump the fuel. The fact that it's noisey could be it's worn out from the crap that's already gone through it? *surprised*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Yes the needle valve, sounds very familiar!!
The pump being noisey could also be down to where it is mounted, i have had 2 metro turbo pumps, which are both very noisey, mainly down to the fact of being mounted in the boot, on the back seat upright, works fine though.

cleaned the tank out? try the easy things first otherwise you will kick yourself if you fork out loads and its something simple like a crappy and and blocked filter.

EDIT: also double check that the pump is not above the take-off point on the tank as i believe that they are gravity fed pumps(?)

sure i will be correct if im wrong though.
