have you driven it hardish recently?, have you checked the boost pipes? does it have a FAP on it like the peugeots? have you checked oil in the turbo//intercooler? there is normally a bit but if it is excessive. is it getting on boost properly?

could be a sensor fault, like the air mass meter just after the air filter these are favorites, some times they need a clean, but have the fault codes checked this should lead you in the right direction always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas |

Mass air meter would be my guess too. But get the fault codes read it should be able to tell you itself what is the matter.

as per Tom, Steve the engines are volvo units not ford, if you look on the water washer cap, infact most components, they are all volvo

Did the fault codes help you? Saves you buying a tool to read the codes. On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:

The diesel engine in the mk1 Focus us a Ford lump through and through - its actually a development of the original 1.6 push rod diesel from the early 80s, thats been endless updated. In the mk2 lump it is a either the old 1.8 or a varity of PSA engines (DW4, DW10 etc) lump as Ford are still using PSA as a design partner in the same way BMW are with the new MINI engines. The only engines that are shared with volvo are the 5 cylinder lumps (eg Focus ST). Not being funny or trying to piss you off - just adding my 2p worth! Alex AlexF |
