Been looking into this and found th following diagram:

http://www.houlihane.co.uk/amps.htm

Am I right in thinking that this will display all power usuage except from the starter motor (not that that really matters)

And if I wanted to see that the starter was using I would have to put it before the starter and the battery?

Im going to guess that this is bad practice though? is it too much for the gauge? What sort of amps do starters draw?

Cheers

Joe

need to wire it on the charging curcuit, but remeber everything goes through the amp meter so if amp meter goes u/s then no charge to battery and of course they have caught fire in the past.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

Hi,
Take a heavy wire from the bolt on the solenoid to the ammeter, then from the ammeter to all the brown wires that were connected to the solenoid.
I'd put a 60 amp Maxi fuse in the feed up from the solenoid, saves fires!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

On a cold day starters can draw 600 Amps on the initial crank, so best not to wire the gauge in.

Voltmeters now :)

I understand this will have to go across the battery, but where should I take the feed from?

Was gonna take a feed off the ammeter gauge, but that will be constantly live.

So thinking the ignition? so it only displays when ign on? will this show the correct voltage?

Cheers

Joe

*edit* will i need to put a fuse in for the voltmeter? if so what?

Hi,
Yes, wire it up like that, a 1 amp fuse will be more than enough :)

Gavin :)
