Hi Peeps. I've got my 1380 out at the moment and i'm wondering what carb/carbs to put on it when it goes back in. Its currenty on a hif44 but im thinking of swaping on to twin Hif38 or a 45 weber.... only think is im not cutting the bluk head so i would end up with a manifold like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:MEWA:IT&ih=009

or i fit the twins on a maniflow manifold. what do you think?? need help to make my mind up.

Thanks

Hi,
Stick with the 44 :)
Don't use one of those horrible manifolds, unless it's holding the garage door open!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

no point fitting a weber on a shite manifold, you will end up with a poorer flowing setup than you already have.

i had twin 1.5 su's (HS4's) on a maniflow steel inlet and they looked beautiful and performed really well, but what a pain in the ass (and wallet) to setup

i think i ended up with MME needles on with yellow dashpot springs on my 1380 with stg 3 head, 296 cam, 1.5 rockers, 11:1 cr, LCB etc

not sure what the hif version of the MME needle is, but you can look its profile up in tuning books and find a match for those if you do decide on that route.

personally, if it were me id consider leaving the hif44 on unless its definately the limiting factor powerwise

you would only gain about 5hp tops with the webber and and about 3-4 with the teins and both will drink fule for england.

i had a 44 on my 1380 it went very well and was economical to

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

who does a good inlet manifold for the HIF44? also going to put a ram stack thing on it, MED do a nice looking one which they claim will add 5bhp which seems hopefull but for £85 should do somthing good.

Hi,

MME needles tend to make it slightly rich on the bottom of the rev range though. but they are very good towards the top. They are one of the richer needles available actually.
