Hi everyone, done the horrible job today of changing my steering rack.

Its absolutely pissing it down, its so muddy and cold, but whats worse is ive got right to the end and cant find the locking nut for the trackrod end :( Its a small one, that secures the trackrod to the hub.

It rained really badly about dinner time, and its just sunk in the mud, ive looked and looked and cant find it.

Cant believe ive got this far and got stuck on that!

Just asking a really big favour, because im stuck without a car now and cant get to the nut and bolt place, can anybody post me a nut for it? I will pay for it and for your time, cant beleive ive got to get a taxi tomorow now for work because i live so far out in the sticks theres not even any busses here!!

Hi,
I think there's 2 different threads depending on the TRE you've got fitted :(

I've seen a few different ones before, if its as per original it should be 3/8" UNF, if its aftermarket it might be M10 although it could be a fine pitch 10mm thread.
A cylinder head nut is 3/8" UNF if you have one spare, could get you out of the shite. Or otherwise a wheelnut is also 3/8" UNF.

You could, as a VERY temporary measure, use a wheel nut until you can get the correct nyloc.

Ain't that the damn truth!!

after 3 weekends dicking around with the suspension on my car i finally stoped it diving one way when braking by replacing the front brake hoses*oh well*

sometimes the rubber ones can "swell" internally, had it before with a clutch one.

i think it may be to do with brake fluid incompatibility.

ahhhh so it restricted the flow on that side and gave you less efficiency so yanked you to the other side?

Sounds like your mini is trying to kill you! I had that with the clutch hose though.
