How much is one of those then? Does it have coil and injector drivers on board?

I seen sprockets not so long ago.
Looked smart the capabilities of the system.
One thing i am put off though is soldering it all together.

I tend to shake a bit. I cant eat peas off a fork *tongue*

What do you get for your £300 then, I take it the board comes with the chips etc mounted, you just need to solder the plugs to the board? Did the £300 include that lambda sensor too?

I'm intrigued too (esp, as having gone down the MS route)... That's obviously primarily a surface mount board from the photos so why are they selling it with all of the SM bits installed but most of the discrete components DIY ???
I thought VEMS was only available fully built ???
Confused...

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Hi,
You can buy it built from the Uk importer, or in kit form from the manufacturer.
WBO2 sensor was £60 on top of the £300
You've got to solder the IGN and INJ drivers, plus the option chips such as stepper chip, EGT chip, 2nd VR chip and the big sockets *wink*
£330 gets you a built standard one + the prices for the options IIRC
It comes that way so you can customise it to your requirements eg number of ign and inj outputs ect...
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I guess you could use a JimStim to at least test some of it. But I'm a bit partial because I'm the one making them. Have a look at

Hi,
Update time :)
It's all soldered together and fitted into the box. I've upgraded the firmware (thanks Sprocket :) )
Tested and calibrated my £4 MAP sensor *wink*

I only had one of those tiny surface mount chips to fit, it went alright, just needed a magnifying glass to check *surprised*

Cheers,
Gavin :)

How long did it take and how many swear words were used?

Hi,
Well I never kept a close look at the clock and really took my time. Swear words were used when I cooked my finger a couple of times!
To be honest it wasn't the hardest job I've ever done, got Sprocket to ask when I want to double check :)
Cheers,
Gavin :)

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

this will be a serious consideration for me when i come to choosing. will have to do some proper indepth research closer to the time. only thing is that i know alot of people use and know alot about the megasquirt and i have not really heard as much about the vems. and as this will be the first time i will have been using a programable ecu i will be needing all the help i can get.

but like i said more research nearer the time.

I was/am in the exact same situation but there are a few guys very knowledgable on the VEMS unit that have answered my stupid questions! *wink*

Bat, if you need a test engine for your ecu....you know where I am. Lol Hope mine turns up before the weekend!
