Hello chaps

A mate is considering a MegaSquirt for a project, he has been bugging me to look into what is needed.

The car in question can be fitted with a flywheel with a 60-2 pattern from a different engine in the same range, so that part is relatively easy.

I've been wading through the MegaSquirt sites but to be honest am getting confused about what does what.

What I would like to do is control a Ford type coilpack in wasted spark directly from the ECU, without using the EDIS module. However I can't seem to find a definative answer as to whether this is possible or not?

Getting a bit bogged down in all the MS-1 MS-2 v2 v3 v3.57 stuff at the moment.

No Problem.

Just use a V3.0 Board with the MS2 daughterboard configured with two ignition drivers and direct connected VR sensor.

MS2/Extra software.

Thank you Paul, what is meant by the MS2 daughterboard? Does this fit in the case with the V3.0 board or is it a standalone add-on?

The MS2 daughterboard replaces the standard MS1 processor and fits in the case.

basically you want a V3.0 or above motherboard. this will already have one built in coil driver, so you need to build another.

you then have a choice of processors, you can run the normal processor and the ms1-extra code, which is mature but not under any more development. OR the ms2 processor(daughtercard) and run teh ms2-extra code, which is young but under fast and constant development :)

As I shot myself in the foot last night by asking virtually the same question (and mine is 3/4 built so I should have known better by now), try these links
http://www.msextra.com/ms2extra/MS2-Extra_...tion.htm#2coils and if it doesn't go there directly, click on 2 Coil Outputs (4cy Wasted Spark) near the bottom of the menu,
or,
http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/setup-wheel.html
They both show (if you find the right part of the document) how to rewire the MS to drive two VB921 ignition drivers for 4 cylinder coil pack wasted spark.

Tell me about it... I thought I had the basics figured until yesterday, after Paul's answer to my other thread last night I have learnt a whole lot more !!!
I guess there are very few people trying to persue MS for the 5 port, let alone a turbocharged one, and I'm well behind those few.
I just like to hope I learn fast !!!

It might be interesting to know exactly how many people are actually going to try to make MS work, from all my searching on this forum (and I admit I'm a noob), it's still not that clear.

PS, meanwhile my block may be ready to collect tommorow *tongue**tongue**tongue*

Hi,
Rod .. I don't think there's that many people running injection on here!
Most members will be carb and almost all the injection runners will be using 4 inlet ports!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Thanks Gavin, but I don't seem to have the right size drill to make 4 inlet ports !!!
But I don't give up easily, I have a long way to go, and will probably ask some more stupid questions whilst trying to get there.
The advice of THIS forum is much appreciated by me.
