i have just removed the head off of my old N/a engine and i have been looking for the head code. it is a 1275 engine and i was wondering if anyone knew of a site or has the information about all of the cylinder head produced for the A+ engines. it seem that the number is 12gx4x as it has been skimmed on top.

the second question is... standard 1275 pistons are they flat toped or are they dished??

std pistons are dished, I think NA mg metro ones were flat tops.

12g940 is probably the head code. it means nothing really as nearly all 1275 used the same casting, just different sized valves

I'm pretty sure the MG metros had dished pistons.

no A+ engine had flat tops, infact, i think it was only ever the 1071 and 970 that had flat tops

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
