ive had my car on the road for about two days now

everything is fine apart this one annoying problem...

randomly it would just stop revving whilst driving... i have to turn it off then wait 5 mins before turning it on and setting off again

this only happens occasionally (it could be after driving hard) and not all the time

ive checked the fpr and its reading 3.6 psi at idle... what else could it be?

any help is greatly appreciated... thanks

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

there could be a number of faults here ?
is it a turbo ?
dodgy fuel regulator, fuel pump, sticking float bowl valve,?

ignition side, dodgy coil, leads, dizzy cap

you must eliminate these first
anyone else.......?

could be the fuel tank breather trapped/blocked.

or i'd check the std filter on the fuel tank pick up pipe, i had similar issues cos it was smegged up so removed it.

i'm with phil on this one,

I had exactly this issue, and it was the dizzy module, if it does it again pull a plug lead and check the spark.

it only happens randomly out of the blue

i have noticed that the filter by the plenum is empty when it happens?

can i just change the dizzy module or do i have to change the whole thing?

Hi,
If the filter is empty you have no fuel coming to the carb.
You'll have to start at the tank and work forward.
Can you hear the pump running when you try to restart?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

those filters can be decieving, they shouldnt be full-full.

Also please remove it ASAP as 3-4psi + boost is easily enough to split one and spray petrol over your hot manifolds...

yes i can hear the fuel pump when turn the ignition on, but when driving its silent/quieter

when its running the filter doesnt get full full.

so i should remove the filter completely? couldnt this be bad?

not really because you should have an injection type one between the tank and fuel pump anyway if you're using the metro pump/mini tank arrangement.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Just another daft thought. On the metro setup, there was a oil pressure cut off for the pump. Most people bin it all that, has yours got one fitted?
Other than that, check the fuel lines & change filter.

i have found that this only happens when the petrol drops to a certain level - about an inch above the pick up pipe?

ok i know that its definetely not the amount of fuel i have

it happened today doing about 20 on the way home (low revs).

i got out and had a look at some things, found that the filter was completely empty but i could hear the fuel pump buzzing away???

i turned it off for a few mins then started again and let it idle so it could fill up

im thinking its a faulty fuel pump?? could i be right?

and btw i done 20 miles doing 60 without any problems earlier??

You need to refit a fuel pressure gauge and see what the fuel pressure does as it cuts out. My guess is that it will die away to nothing as the car cuts out.

yes it does dye away, but this haapens at any rmp - not just on boost

any suggestions as to why my mpg's are so low?

and if i replace the fuel pump what would be a good one to go for?

(atm its standard metty turbo mounted on subframe with side exit exhaust)

If all your fuel pipe runs are clear and you have a good power feed to the pump and you are still losing pressure then then i would say its fubar'd! Check everything twice before purchaing a new one though!
