I had always thought the 'lump' present on the turbine housing on the T2/T25 turbo chargers looked like it was designed for a Lambda sensor - but with everyone always saying how they should never be put under pressure, or in excessive heat, I thought "well, maye not then".

All i know Matt - is that this is a factory installation of an O2 sensor into a turbine housing.

Do we know for sure that this was factory fitted though, perhaps it could have been done by someone with the correct drill and tap since it left a factory?

Thats an unheated one wire narrow band sensor, and is REAL old technology. Narrow bands are not as sensative to the pressure differencies. Its probibly only relying on a transient voltage signal anyway Edited by Sprocket on 12th Mar, 2008. On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

Might be an un-heated one-wire whatever - but the fact is - that at some point, this lump was used for a lambda sensor.
