voltage drop across ign barrel

well had a few probs with electrics and found the problem.

i get a 1 1.5 volt drop across the ign barrell

i get 14 v ( when engine running and nothing on) going to ign barrell brown wire

and get 12.5 -13v on the white which is coming out.

soon as i turn things on eg lights fan ect i get about 13.6 coming in

but drops down to 11.5 coming out.

just wondered if any body else has the same probs.

or if soem one could test there voltage coing in and coming out.

Should be the same in and out, fit a new switch :)
I'm assuming you're testing at the contacts on the switch and not at the multiplug....

i have a big chocky block as i had to convert mine from single lever stalks to multi stalks.

measured it here at the conector.

actualy the best place is at the fuse box as this is the inportant part but needed to find were the drop was occuring and have found it. but it would mean not just a new switch it would need the whole lock assembly to as this is were the bottom contacts are fitted.

might try removing switch and spraying some contact cleaner in there but we will see, doesnt make to much hassel to be honest its just the wipers are a bit sluggish to start, the main bit is that 14 v going to the battery.

ditch the chocy block and make some proper soldered connections.

Measure it at the actual terminals on the switch itself as it maybe the wires to the switch or the choc block....
