Most people would say that every part of the mini is structural, and helps with rigidity.

I personally, would not remove them without fitting a cage. But that's just me.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

Hi,
The bin ties the B post to the sill. If you look at the bottom of the B post you'll see it doesn't meet the sill as you would expect, but finishes a few inches short!
Hence if someone runs into the side of you there's only the doorstep / sill protecting you!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I've removed mine but had to add additional plating to the B post and sill as Bat pointed out to join the 2 together.

as others have said, if youtake them out weld a little plate to tie the b-post to the sill, i ran my mini with the bins & seatpan cout out for two weeks with no cage & it did feel like a little stiffness was lost, put a 6-point cage in & its was betterthan standard,

dont chop unless you fit a cage! the shell is the only minor protection you have in an accident!!!

any bit of metal you cut out will reduce the strenght of the car. many here have fitted flip fronts, cut the rear bins out and even the rear seat.

a friend has removed the bins and rear seat, not welded anything extra and it seems fine. i'd rather do this than fit a flip front but each to there own. i personally think flip fronts are way more dangerous (even braced properly) than removing the bins.

Hi,
Also think about long term, with the state of the roads and Mini suspension you may get cracks appearing! *surprised*
Cheers,
Gavin :)
