today i changed the oil and sparkplugs on my mini, since i have droped the engine back in a i have had problem after problem unfortunatly the current one is wheel bearings, anyhow i swapped my plugs from bosh super 4's (rocomended by another person) to the performance Ngk standard style and i have to say i will never spend money on bosh sparkplugs again, its so much more responsice and feels alot pokeyer, i also did a engine flush (some chemical stuff i got from work) and it cleaned up my rockers and probably the rest of the oil ways really well.
as for the oil i forked out on some high grade classic racing style oil 20w50 and it seemed to be quite good but as times are a bit hard i went back to the good old tesco 20w50 and i have to say the 4.69 oil is alot better than the £30.00 oil, alot less tapit noise and again seems to run alot smoother i only used this oil in my old engine and it went like sh*t. have any of you ever come across silly gains from spark plugs or drops in power ect??

Hi,
A famous quote from Dave Walker? " an engine can't tell what brand spark plugs are fitted"
However as you've proved it can make a difference, I've always ran NGKs *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

The engine may not be able to tell. But some plugs are just plain crap.

So the mixture ready to be ignited by the coil/dizzy/lead etc might be able to tell :)

202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

An impotent local machine shop ran by monkeys skimmed my head just to tidy up the surface (and ended up taking off something like 60thou!). The result was it pushed my (already aleing) rings over the edge and I ended up using 1 litre of oil every 60 miles. £5 oil is great for that kind of scenario!

i use valvoline vr1 oil never had anyprobs. sorry 2 hijack the thread abit, but having a small debate with someone about spark plugs, ive always been lead to belive with ngk plugs the higher the number the hotter they are eg 6 is cooler than 7. they seem to think other wise. so just wondered which one of us is talking out of our arse?

NGK plugs work like this i believe

6 = Street / Road
7 = Colder street/road
8 = colder race
9= even colder race

or something like that
