today i changed the oil and sparkplugs on my mini, since i have droped the engine back in a i have had problem after problem unfortunatly the current one is wheel bearings, anyhow i swapped my plugs from bosh super 4's (rocomended by another person) to the performance Ngk standard style and i have to say i will never spend money on bosh sparkplugs again, its so much more responsice and feels alot pokeyer, i also did a engine flush (some chemical stuff i got from work) and it cleaned up my rockers and probably the rest of the oil ways really well.

The engine may not be able to tell. But some plugs are just plain crap.

An impotent local machine shop ran by monkeys skimmed my head just to tidy up the surface (and ended up taking off something like 60thou!). The result was it pushed my (already aleing) rings over the edge and I ended up using 1 litre of oil every 60 miles. £5 oil is great for that kind of scenario! On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

i use valvoline vr1 oil never had anyprobs. sorry 2 hijack the thread abit, but having a small debate with someone about spark plugs, ive always been lead to belive with ngk plugs the higher the number the hotter they are eg 6 is cooler than 7. they seem to think other wise. so just wondered which one of us is talking out of our arse?
