Im just waiting for my head light switch before i get the MOT done.
Thing is, my tax disc runs out tomorow, so cant of course renew The disc with out MOT.
Are you allowed so many days or weeks after the disc runs out ? otherwise ill have to declaire it as SORN.

declair it sorn, or they will be coming to you with a lovly bill... i know this from mine i forgot to sorn it when i bought it, so had to pay 25 pounds :(

Well, just for those who dont know.
I asked me mate about it, and he said you are allowed 14 days before you rather get your new tax disc, or declaire it as sorn :)..

(MOT or insurance has expired)
If you intend to renew your vehicle tax you should do so before your current tax disc expires. However, this is not always possible if you’re waiting for insurance or are getting an MOT for your vehicle.

You’ll be committing an offence if you use or keep your vehicle on the public road without a current tax disc. If you cannot obtain a tax disc, you must remove your vehicle off the road.

While your vehicle is off the road, you have 14 days in which to obtain a tax disc or make a SORN.

about 4 months+ i didnt realise that i had to declare it sorn after i bought it (first car) they took ages to send it to me it was silly. didnt even get a reminder or anything. its safe to say dvla = sh*t :)

You can tax or SORN on line. So you may be able to tax it if the current ones not run out yet? I taxed a car online before I'd even got insurance :)

I bought the car and gave the girl the tax back as i was breaking it - I of course completely forgot about the sorn and was fined about 3 months later - I got charged £25 for failing to sorn and had to pay back tax - all came to about £60.

lets just say I make sure everything is sorned now although its gets hard with the number of books i still seem to have in my name!

I got stung £80 for not SORNing mine. I thought you had 14 days after the tax was up to get it done? I come from a long line of tight people so I normally use up that 14 days trying to prise the wallet out!
