Have you got access to a multi-meter? A quick switch check would be to measure the voltages. There should be a perm 12+ which is the supply to the lights, then when you put the switch to each position 12+ is applied to the other wires (side lights and main). You could use a bulb to test the switch if you are stuck.

The sidelights run through a fuse but the headlights don't so it could be the fuse if your sidelights don't work. Dash lights are also fed from the sidelight circuit. I think it's one in the 4 way fuse block under the bonnet, have a look for a red wire with a green stripe (iirc).

Theres a fuse in the fuse box that supplies power to the back lights and lights in the dash, i dont know if it does the side lights

You can also check the switch if you want by temporairly connecting the large brown wire and small red wire together at the back of the switch, if the lights come on it's a faulty switch. My guess would be a dodgy connection in your fuse box though. Well on that 4 way fuse block under the bonnet. The 3rd fuse down wasn't connected right. So now all works :) nice one :) Cheers.. you have to rember though some minis were wired so permant live is not always like that mine is only with the ignition on :)

check the wires in the front part of the front panel just above the grill on the inside, i bet its a rusty bullet connector or something! Previous Engine: 1040cc Morespeed engine, 1275 turbo head T2 Turbo Mirage Manifolds Megajolt
