Phone the MOT station and check with them first, but I'm pretty sure it's on the list of things that can fail but you get a free retest of just that item if you bring it back by 4pm the next day.

My hazzards haven't worked since 2003 and I've passed every MOT since. Plus I finaly got failed for my arch-less reverse rims after about 6 years. On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

it can fail on an excessive oil leak, and yes you do get a free retest if brought back within 10 days. says on the bottom of the failure sheet. |

I have never been in a car were they have tested hazard lights though. Although strictly speaking, they should work. Same with front fogs. Ive never been asked to prove these work. They have always checked all other lighting though 9.85 @ 145mph

also, u dont get a FREE RETEST anymore do you ? Yes you do... You get a free "re-test" on a whole list of minor items if you bring it back by the end of the next working day - they only have to "re-test" the failed minor item. Hazards are one of them (I've checked since my earlier post). On bigger things the rules are more complicated (like letting them repair it) but for a defined list of minor items, just take it back next day for free. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |

The joke with the wide wheels was when I changed them to skinnys and did the restest the guy didn't have a clue why I was failed the first time. "I think the first guy was a bit tough on you, I would of passed them". Thankfully the guy who works in the one in Coleraine with the hydrolic arms has retired. He crushed my sills with his bare hands. They don't ever check my horn either and not always the washers. On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

Hi, Front fogs or spots are not an MOT requirement, in the UK at least
Cheers, Gavin :) If lights are fitted to a car, then legally, they MUST work. 9.85 @ 145mph
