i'm after an old pc setup if anyone has one. reason being is that i have a nic hi-fi that the cd drive is goosed on, so my plan was to get a pc for the garage to stick music on with via the hi-fi.

basically just needs to be able to pplay music and maybe some internet (which i will do via wi-fi but i'll get a usb adaptor)

Why don't you just use an MP3 player? Is the web essential?

Alex has one that he wants £50 for but it's huge and heavy (postage wise) he said to look on ebay for the bargains.

Internet in the garage sounds a crap idea to me, I can see it now, you think "I'll just look on xyz at abc" and then an hour later you are still surfing and done nothing on the car.

I've got a cable so I can plug my MP3 player into my garage stereo, when I remember to take it out there, which is not very often. Usually its Radio1 or Hallam FM.

i have a small dell p3 800 sat at work under my desk if you want it, was told i cant throw it out as it will add to this carbon bootprint thingy

I just use a pair of PC speakers and my MP3. I spend enough time on the internet when I'm in the house without taking more time away from the car.

You could just get a FM modulator for your MP3 player. That way, you can change tracks etc without the need to even touch the hi-fi.

My Mini build diary

I have over 40gb of music on a portable hard drive i carry with me for work hence wanting to use a pc.

thought a cheap pc would be cheaper than a proper size mp3. an ipod was another option to be fair.

i use the laptop in the garage at the minute if needed and find it useful when searching for reference material hence thinking of the pc. I get very bored of the net so know it wont end up being a distraction.
