Hi all

Was thinking of ways to make space behind the front mounted rad and was wondering if i could fit the mpi alternator bracket to my car that lifts it up and out of the way?

If so, does anyone know the part No. or where i could get one?

Thanks

Johnny

im not 100%, but it think the bracket on mpi is part of the head casting?

The mpi head has a couple of extra holes for the bracket, so not really an option.

Robert, does that set up cause the alternator pulley to be out of line with the crank pulley & water pump pulley? and if so does it cause any problems?

Only ask as it's on tomorrows to do list (providing my stomach lets me go in the workshop):

nope its fine rob , in fact i think if you look closely at the mount you can see a space whrere a spacer gets it aligned , i think it was about 1.5 mm .

I spent a couple of hours making this only to discover that the fan belt fouls on the head.

Might be worth researching an a/c Mini as I am sure the alternator is in a different position as the compressor sits underneath it? Then copy bracketery and belts used on it?

Hi,
The A/C compressor runs a double pulley the alternator is driven by it's own belt from the compressor, which is driven by the original fan belt.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I may have a spare mpi alternator bracket in the shed but they are quite heavy cast items. Also as Paul S has said there are 4 extra mounting holes for the bracket and a bit more 'meat' in the head casting where it mounts on. You could always use an mpi head though.
