im not 100%, but it think the bracket on mpi is part of the head casting? "Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun"

The mpi head has a couple of extra holes for the bracket, so not really an option. Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."

Robert, does that set up cause the alternator pulley to be out of line with the crank pulley & water pump pulley? and if so does it cause any problems?

nope its fine rob , in fact i think if you look closely at the mount you can see a space whrere a spacer gets it aligned , i think it was about 1.5 mm .

I spent a couple of hours making this only to discover that the fan belt fouls on the head.

Might be worth researching an a/c Mini as I am sure the alternator is in a different position as the compressor sits underneath it? Then copy bracketery and belts used on it? On 5th Sep, 2011 Vegard said:

I may have a spare mpi alternator bracket in the shed but they are quite heavy cast items. Also as Paul S has said there are 4 extra mounting holes for the bracket and a bit more 'meat' in the head casting where it mounts on. You could always use an mpi head though. |
