Not one for forward planning, I have just finished making a dashboard using the classic mini speedometer. The problem I have is the plenum chamber that sits in the bulkhead box prevents me getting the speedo cable in-line with the connection point, and any bend would be to great.

You legally need a speedo, however it is not tested during the MoT. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:

I was thinking along those lines, they only really drive it onto the platform and the 'brake' test rollers, would they even notice its operation anyway?

you can get them and i use one, got mine out of a triumph years ago. always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas |

MGB. Lotus Elans. Triumph GT6 & spitfire all have an angle drive which will do the job.
