I personally do.... But not to actually put any tension on the chain... It's there and fitted just enough to take out the slack from the chain...

I have a duplex chain and sprockets off a 1275 A series can I fit this to my turbo motor, if so can I use the existing simplex tensioner ?

BTW - I took my buddy VTEC Pete out for a spin this weekend, and even though I am running her in, he gave it a name, the "Brocket"...cause I'm a brocket maaannn, nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah....

Tell me this

Just because the chain is a double row, why should you leave off the tentsoner?

The duplex chain is exactly the same length as the simplex, has the same amount of initial slack, therefore will rattle just the same when new.

As for duplax tensioners, no there isnt, but the simpex one will wear the same.

I would put a LITTLE tension on it

Sure i read this somewhere but cant remeber, I thought it was the yellow book. Infact it is, just checked, page 338, 3rd edition

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I've used tensioners on Duplex setups several times. But no engine were ever delivered with a tensioner and a duplex setup.

I also used the tensioner on my setup, I have the Kent Cams silent chain kit which has a chain that comprises of "W" shaped links instead of "0" shaped links and rollers.

The only thing I am careful to do is to use a new tensioner pad on a duplex so that there is a new surface to push against the chain, rather than using one that has worn against a simplex chain previously.

As others, I don't put any load on it, just enough to take out the slight amount of slack, which on the chain setup I have is very little and appears never to have got any bigger, as I have used this kit on other engines.
