At a guess, the mechanical fuel pump is not up to the job.
I've found two pumps in Norway for sale, what do I need?

1100 +40 MG camshaft, will be running 7-9psi

The ones in question are:

1. Maks. kap. 70 l/h. Maks. trykk 0,27–0,40 bar.

2. Maks. kap. 120 l/h Maks. trykk 0,10 bar.

I guess you can figure out the Norwegian *wink*

So, which one do I buy.. Tomorrow *wink*

BTW: What is really the difference from a "pressure" pump, to a "suction" pump. I mean some are mounted in the tank area, some are fitted under the bonnet.

No Carl, I'm not having another discussion about penis-pumps.

Betwix Harrogate and York

Deffo number 1.

70 l/hour should be more than enough, and the psi seems more suitable. 0.1 bar is piss all.

Hi,
A suction pump is more suction biased, meaning it can be in the engine bay, whereas the pressure pump needs to be near the tank. Pressure pump is better as less chance of fuel starvation on acceleration *wink*

Gavin :)

That I've figured, but what's the difference?

A typical efi pump does not suck.

So if you mounted it higher than the level of fuel in the tank, then it would never prime.

A typical low pressure carb pump, would.

All you need is good low, and a needle valve that will allow enough fuel into the carb.

Why not just slap an efi pump onto it, same as a blow thru setup ?

Because that would give me way too much fuel.

Still don't understand the difference between these two pumps. The look identical, cost the same etc.

Internals are obviously different. I have opened up an efi pump, but not the others.

Exactly. I need to do some dissection.

Answer from a fuel pump manufacturer:

The difference is that this type is a sucking one, the spring inside is not that strong as compared to the other pumps, thus resulting in a lower forwarding pressure of about 0,15 bar, but with more electric force on the sucking side.
