Can't you get it at the local paint supply store? Around here we can buy it by the gallon... $9-12/gal 61 Austin Seven; building a 1275 'over the clutch' turbo, R5 T2'd, custom intercooled, megajolt electrified, canyon carver

Step into the world of chemicals and step into the world of high purity=high £££. What you need is some filthy cheap stuff. Which is where your local paint shop suppliers is your friend. You have toluene = methyl benzene= C6H5-CH3 and Xylene=di-methyl benzene C6H4-(CH3)2. Both have good octane numbers and both combined are what we know as cellulose thinners. You don't want the expensive clear stuff, you want stuff with a colour taint to it aka brush thinners. This is cheap and not worth worrying about the impurities. Run it. Thing is that notice the smell of celly thinners and modern unleaded.....connection??? yep. Anyway, if you are leading fuel, benzene derivatives are called "aromatics" and aromatic compounds fuck up lead response. So if you are leading fuel up to make avgas, you want as little aromatics in there as you can get, so that means 95 over 97 octane and most certainly no paint thinners.
