Happy at last...

All is well, new pistons are in and still in one piece!! I am running a real mild advance curve and finishing off the needle polishing then I'll get it down to a R/R to finish up, maybe start upping the boost as well..

All seems well, the rad cowling and improved electric fan are showing obvious improvements to the cooling, 70 degrees today and the temps didn't even think about moving up. I must say the 2.95 diff makes it a much more civilised beestie to drive, highly recommended for a road car. The KAD Knockoff quickshift is great as well, though it would have been a pig had I not modded it before installing the thing.

Hi,
Good work :)
2.95 is a good FD for the road.
Post up your chart when you've had the RR done *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Nice one mate, good to hear your on the road, and Yes i can agree with your 2.9 diff statement, i've had one for years and it's great for a road/motorway car (as much as a mini could be a motorway car that is lol!)

Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

Great work Tel.Congrats.

But Matt won't such a low FD kill acceleration?
I'm probably wrong but. . .

I guess I can tell you soon.. From my initial drives I would say that as I can actually use first gear without spinning the wheels all the time and pull 60mph in second the important (for road use) 0-60 is probably just as good.. Its also much nicer having a third gear that I can slick down to for high speed corners, Maybe its not for those only interested in 1/4 mile times but for a road car I'm sold already.. I dont care if its a half second slower!

Hi,
I think you've hit the nail on the head there Terry. It works well on the road with a torquey engine and probably not much slower 0-60 if you've not got an extra gear shift to make.
My 1380 gave a 206 Gti a scare with the 2.95 FD, so I don't think you loose out on acceleration too much *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

I would have thought your right mate it must do a little, loking at all the fast 1/4 mile guys that don't run one. but as i have said before it's not been built for dragging so if it's a bit slower at some points so be it 8-)

This surprised me....

I did a couple of 0-60 runs today and it averged at 6.76 seconds, almost a second faster than before (7.6secs 3.2 diff) .. and I have a real tame ignition setting at this point. didn't try a 1/4mile though.

Not really, It was a long time ago an IC and 2 rebuilds since I have been on a Dyno. I suspect its quite a bit better Than T3/T2 low down but will run out of huff earlier, but for a road car thats fine by me..

I'm just ordering a knock sensor and then will get down to a dyno in a few weeks to set up the advance. I'll post the printout
