Might b a lose flywheel. When the clutch is engaged the flywheel is pushed up sraight and the rattle stops. Just a guess.....

Hi,
Yeah could be a loose flywheel as if you get that offset washer in the wrong way round you think it's tight, then it comes loose and kills the crank and flywheel *surprised*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

A knackered release bearing normally makes a noise when the pedal isn't pressed. Obviously check all other bolts when the covers off.

Primary gear front bush. I had a similar rattle, it turned out that the bush was FUBAR'd on the primary gear, and it had only done 3k miles!!! Im going to order a floating bush for it.

Only way to find out is to pull it appart.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Yeah can be your drop gears rattling. I know mine rattles in neutral without clutch pressed. Nothing to worry about though. unless it sounds like its gonna fall to bits n pieces.
