Hey guys, iv just finished my mini build and she is being set up at sleaford mini centre atm...

iv just spoken to the guys there and they showed me the dyno graphs of my car...

the engine was said to be a 1340, with stage 3 head, low compression pistons and iv fitted an intercooler, bleed valve and dump valve.. I was very unsure of how true this spec was as the guy i bought it off had already told some porkies...

now the car has 85bhp at the wheels at 12psi...

roughly 105-110 at the flywheel...

does this sound pretty standard ish spec?
(obviously with the intercooler and boost raise)

thanks
Jim

it might just be me but i would be expecting more power from 12psi. mine made 110hp at the flywheel at 8psi with only a few mods (gasflowed big valve head, intercooler, etc) . i'm thinking yours may be standard spec, unless your leaking boost, or the ignition is retarded too much.

What the fuck is that on the rear of the car? One of the most stupid things I've ever seen. Rest looks nice.

I'd be expecting more really. Even on a basic spec motor, something like 125-135hp is usually achievable with 12psi.

ok, so it sounds very much like the engine is standard.....

i do know that different rollers read differently, the guy is a good friend of mine he thought that it pulled well and seemed strong, and said that a standard injection cooper on his rollers is only 40bhp at the wheels...

are those last 3 figures on standard engines?

also does 40bhp at the wheels for an injection cooper sound low? surely its about 60 at the flywheel.....

Where are you from big_jim? Someone in your area may give advice on what local rolling roads are good or bad. :)

im in sleaford in lincolnshire...

the rollers its been on have only recently been installed as the guys moved...

its a friend of mines place, i know they are very good at setting their cars up as they both race and regularly win in their classes.... its just how accurate their rollers are is unknown to me, and how good my engine is is what im worried about more than anything....

I'm sure they would of said if something was wrong with the engine. Despite the power figures, does the car actually drive better since the rollers?

I havent driven it before, and i havent got it back yet....

i bought the car as a shell with just the engine in.... and it didnt run when i bought it so i never had chance to drive it...

they have all the graphs from start to finish from all the runs... it was only 50bhp to start with then 75 then 85...

i think its just best to see how it goes, and probably borrow another boost gauge to test that mine is reading right!!

I wouldnt worry too much. HP is just pub-talk. How it drives is the most important bit.

Hi,
Worst ways, you could take it to another rolling road once it's setup up. Then compare figures...
Cheers,
