Hammerite is really not very good in my experience. I'd get a proper Shultz gun and use rubberised underbody Shultz, sticks like shit to a blanket. Make sure it is as clean as possible, and also degreased. Don't waste your time with anything in an aerosol, they are just not up to the task (too thin).

Ive got an underseal gun for the compressor so what will help.
Its bare metal at present so what goes on first before the shultz?

Personally I don't put anything on before Shultz, see what it says on the can of whatever you buy.

Hi,
Etch prime bare metal, then prime the lot.
Top coat next, this is the only paint that doesn't allow moisture through *wink*
Leave a week or so to let the solvents out of the paint. Then what ever you want on top; underseal, stonechip, waxoyl....
Cheers,
Gavin :)

POR 15 is supposed to be god on bare metal…

"POR-15® is a high-tech, high performance rust-preventive coating designed for application directly on rusted or seasoned metal surfaces. It dries to an incredible rock-hard, non-porous finish that won't chip, crack, or peel, and it prevents rust from recurring by protecting metal from further exposure to moisture.

Use it to coat rusty frames, floor pans, farm equipment, marine equipment, or even a heavily corroded battery tray.

POR-15® is sensitive to UV light (sun) and must be topcoated for prolonged exposure to sunlight.
Topcoating is not required for areas not exposed to sunlight. "

have a doze of clear por15 in the garage that i will try on my bare metal body, having rust snakes with the clear laquer thats on it know *crying*

As bat says, etch prime it first or you could brush on some red lead.
