I have blown two of these in the last 100 miles and am now afraid to go out in case my last one gives up -it cost me £150 to be brought home last Tuesday at midnight.Any suggestions as to why this is happening, please ?.Also, is it easy to modify a points distributor to satisfy turbo requirements, as I have two of these.

You also MUST use the heat conductive goop between the module and dizzy...

12H. Can you please amplify !! for me where you suspect the bad earth - I am getting to the point where I will revert to a points set-up, just so that I can get to an event next weekend 150 miles away.

Hi,
If it is a bad earth causing the problem, there's only 2 earths that relate to the engine. The engine earth to the body and the body to the battery.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

EDIT: Carl, I've got a brand new dizzy with module on it in the for sale section...

Thanks for that. Both checked and apparently OK(Starter spins pretty good too)Have gone back to points and on the advice of Aldon running max 26 degrees advance total. Will go back to electronic dizzy when I can spare the time and have the wife standing by with tow rope.

Your not feeding it with a ballasted supply are you?

This will overload them.

No. Giving it the full 12 volts, same as the coil. Are these amplifiers polarity sensitive?.(Just in case I have been a complete prat and wired it in reverse, so to speak(There is a white wire and a black/white wire from the amplifier and I have wired it white to positive on the coil and black/white to the negative- negative earth system.

Black/white to negative is correct.

Are you sure that the coil is earthed OK.

I can see from the pictures in the other post that the coil is mounted an an alloy plate on the bulkhead. Maybe an earthing issue.

Good thinking !! I had thought the earth for the coil was via its wiring,or the distributor body. Thanks for that tip.
