GT1752 Ah yes this was mentioned before. Is this a bit of a holy grail of turbos as they seem rare to get hold of. How does it compare to the T2's and I'm guessing it fits straight onto the mirage? There is one on ebay in the US at the mo. |

I am in the same boat as yourself, wanting a little more than a stock R5 T2 can give. I haven't had time to research it fully but you can get a .47AR T2 that sounds ideal. If not a Rover tomcat T25 will fit the mirage if you relieve the block a bit. On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

Hi, Nope it don't fit straight on, infact I'm not sure it will fit at all. It bolts straight on to the manifold, but the compressor housing is alot bigger than the T2. This causes clearance problems with the back of the block. I solved this by putting the manifold on up side down! Cheers, Gavin :) It will fit, but needs a special manifold:

Get a Rover turbo (Tomcat) T25, it is what some on here are using on Mirage manifolds for more than say 15psi. On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

.64 is way too big for a Mini engine. You need something in the high 20s low 30s. Well that depends. A GT17 has a turbine AR of .47 and works fine on a 998. However, an earlier T-series turbo wouldn't work with such a large AR. The GT turbo T2 has a turbine A of .35. In all cases for a practical turbo motor on a 1275 then .64 is too big, especially on a T-series turbo. Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

I'm running a 1380 and will be running a turbo in the distant future. Turbo I've set on is the T3 and the displacement from the 1380 is a bit better than obv the 1275 and so on. The t3 i got has the 360 bearing and with the exhaust housing off the t3 turbo from the ford escort series 1 which is bigger as the t3 dies at around 5k rpm and this free's up the rev's but almost makes it laggier. but them im not to bottered by that cause im talking 20+psi in boost. just depends what you want, there's always a disadvantage with you want more nana's cause you gotta sacrafise something. |
