i dont need it doing personally. my brother is handy with a welder, and out of work at the moment so cash is tight for him. a guy we know with a mini has asked him to do it. he doesnt want to rip the guy off, but expects a few quid as hes skint at the moment. just wondering for a fair price? thanks

said in my 2007 mini magazine £300 by a decent garage so add the inflation?

obviously as its a mate maybe less?

Depends how bad the inner sills are? My outer sills were £18 each from mmachine.

Personally id never welded before this April and ive done both sills and patched the inner ones quite well i think, and even with the mig worked out £100 cheaper!

Agree an hourly rate with the customer, and then charge for the time spent on it.

patern parts!!

Personally I would throw them in the bin.

Any experiance I have had with pattern parts has been bad - apart from inner sills, where i had no alternative

yea. he did the one sill on my car 4 me when i was away. patched the inner. have got a pattern inner for the other side though. are these ok to use?

the only other non genuine parts i have is a S diaganal for the front panel, and rear mk1 light converters..these are a nightmare and iv been filling, rubbing, filling, ruubbing for days and days. the drivers side is getting somewhere near now though

The pattern inner actually fitted, which was a suprise, but the car was so far apart, it would not have made much difference, as they are not curved and can be trimmed to fit.

something like a wing needs to line up proporly, my genuine ones even needed a little 'pursuasion'!

will be using genuine panels for door skins, wings, front panel, a panels, scuttle...otherwise it will be miles out of line

Sounds like a plan. The only thing I found the non genuine panels god for was making repair panels.

Good luck with your own project.
