Now, does this check number plates or the actual tax disc?

Thing is i re-taxed my car yesterday but walked to get it, put it in the kitchen, nipped out this morning and went past one with the new disc in... the kitchen

Arse!

Now i was taxed etc, but just wondering if i'll get anything for it not being in the windscreen? even though todahy is the first etc and i have actually taxed it...

I taxed my car online,parked it outside and the coppers came round next day and put a ticket on it! Tossers!

Can the camera tell if you are Insured and Mot'd as well (which I am but just curious).

i presume its no plate (stupid error removed)

I was driving around in my works van for 2 months before i noticed it was out of tax (why they didnt tell me there was a new one in the office i dont know), i drove past several of these things and nothing was ever said

my mate got tugged for no insurance or tax, thing is the he was insured under a trade policy on it and was on the way back from the post office taxing it and had al the documents with him, i belive the copper went away with his tail between his legs!

iirc if you car has been taxed online its instantly taxed? so even if they put a ticket you should have your printed document saying you have bought tax and have paid for it?

Yes but its got to be displayed aswell in the window or thats an offence.

Am sure when the camera reads the plate it can then see if its taxed and insured but obviously not tell if its desplayed in the window.

My mate got pulled in his starlet as they anpr'd it and it showed up as being insured as a std car, it was obvious from the colour and wheels that it was modified. He had to produce documents to show that he had changed it to be insured as a modified car

You cannot purchase road tax without valid MOT or Insurance. so if you have no tax, the Police automaticaly think that its highly likely the chances you have an MOT or insurance to be slim.

Vosa automaticaly know if you are taxed, MOT'd and Insured, just by the cammeras machine eye reading the number plate. Its all in a computer and the camera is connected directly to it, hence why you normaly see the ploice just down the road waiting, to get the signal to stop those the camera has flagged up as questionable.

Vosa are not the police and the police are not Vosa, you wont get Vosa taking the roll of the police, but you seem to get Police who think they can take the roll of Vosa.

You have to love the benefits of the latest technology

i didnt have a front numberplate on the mini for a few weeks never got pulled lol :) but i kept it in the car just in case

hey got my mini towed a couple of weeks ago because it had no tax and was parked on pavement. It also had no engine and the wheels and subframe were not attached the day before they took it.

Cost £280 to get it out £85 to tow it and £75 fine.

i was not pleased as the police didnt know about it so i reported it stolen.
